Plasmocyte blood cell, light micrograph. Plasmocytes, also called plasma cells, are derived from stimulated B lymphocytes (white blood cells). They are antibody factories programmed to produce copious quantities of one type of antibody when activated. Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is an example of an antibody produced by these cells. The surrounding cells are mostly red blood cells.
