Lissa ciragra crab. This crab lives at a depth of 30-60 metres in the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas. The carapace (shell) of this specimen measures 5cm wide. These crabs are very skilled at disguising themselves. With its very mobile claws (top), the crab cuts off pieces of algae, sea sponge and corals and hangs them on small hook-shaped bristles that grow on their carapace.
