Model aeroplane. Historical artwork of a model aircraft designed by the Frenchmen Victor Tatin (1843-1913) and Etienne Jules Marey (1830-1904). In 1879, it flew over 15 metres around a central pole to which it was tethered at almost 30 kilometres per hour, demonstrating the effectiveness of the design. The model was powered by a compressed air motor linked to two propellers. The silk wings measured 1.9 metres from tip to tip. The model was flown at Chalais- Meudon in France.
