Spiral galaxy NGC 3079, Hubble Space Telescope image. Clouds of hot gas (red) are seen in the galaxy, including an unusual bubble structure above its central nucleus. This structure, which is around 3500 light years wide, is thought to have been formed by a wind of fast-moving particles caused by a burst of star formation. This galaxy lies around 50 million light years from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major.
