Zeta Scorpii double star. True-colour optical image of the double star Zeta Scorpii, in the constellation Scorpius. This is an example of a visual or optical double, in which the stars themselves are not related, but lie along the same line of sight by chance. The red star to the left is Zeta 2 Scorpii, and the bluer star immediately to its right is Zeta 1 Scorpii. This image was produced by digitally combining photographs taken by the UK Schmidt Telescope in blue and red light.
