Double cluster, optical image. The Double cluster comprises the open star clusters Chi Persei (NGC 884, left) and h Persei (NGC 869, right). These clusters lie just over 7000 light years from Earth in the constellation Perseus. h Persei is the closer to Earth, but only by around 300 light years. It is also around twice the age of Chi Persei, although with ages of 5.6 and three million years respectively, both are very young in stellar terms. Our Sun is five billion years old.
