View of the Milky Way in the region between the constellation of Perseus and Cassiopeia. The double star cluster H and Chi Persei is clearly visible at bottom right (NGC 869 at right and NGC 884 at left). It lies at a distance of about 7200 light years and together they contain several hundred stars. The brightest star at bottom left is the 6th magnitude Eta Persei. The top of the frame is characterised by an intricate region of faint nebulae and open star clusters. From right to the left the nebulae here visible are IC 1795, as a bright red spot, IC 1805 and IC 1848 as faint and irregular nebulosities. They represent clouds of hydrogen lit up by the nearby star clusters.
