Taurus, Pleiades and Auriga. Optical photograph of the constellations of Taurus (the Bull), Pleiades (the Seven Sisters) and Auriga (the Charioteer). Taurus is one of the 12 zodiacal constellations. The V-shaped pattern of stars which forms the bull's head are seen just right of centre. The brightest star of the V" is the red giant Aldebaran. The bright star cluster known as the Pleiades (M45) is seen above Taurus. On the left of the image is the constellation of Auriga, the bright star (upper left) being Capella, the sixth brightest luminary of the Heavens. It is a binary system (two stars rotating about a common centre of gravity). Photographed in Vancouver, Canada."
