16th-century celestial globe. This is the Roll- Reinhold celestial globe. It was built in Germany in 1589 by Georg Roll and Johannes Reinhold. It is designed to show the constellations seen in the night sky at different times of the year. It is made from copper, brass, bronze, silver and steel. It is 31 centimetres wide and 43 centimetres tall. Photographed in the museum of the Astronomical Observatory of Capodimonte (OAC), Naples, Italy.
