Excavator. A caterpillar-tracked excavator in action. This type of excavator, with a narrow bucket at the end of a long arm, is particularly useful for creating near-vertical embankments and for digging trenches. The tracks spread the weight of the excavator over a large area of ground, making it able to be used on light soils.
