Typhoon fighter plane display. View of a pilot in the Hemispherium virtual reality display, flying a Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet. The Eurofighter Typhoon has been developed as the most advanced fighter jet in the world. The two small forewings make the jet aerodynamically unstable, so it is flown by a computerised flight control system. The Hemispherium has a 6-metre-wide dome-shaped screen that provides a 180-degree-wide field of view. The Eurofighter is a joint project between the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain. It began in 1994. The first Eurofighter Typhoons are scheduled to enter service in 2003. Photographed in 2000 at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough, UK.
