MODEL RELEASED. Typhoon fighter plane and a ground crew preparing for a test flight. The Eurofighter Typhoon has been developed as the most advanced fighter jet in the world. The two forewings (seen folded forward) make it aerodynamically unstable, so it is flown by a computerised flight control system. This allows great agility and automation. It has two Eurojet EJ200 turbofan engines, can fly at speeds of up to Mach 2 and is adaptable to many different weapons configurations. The Eurofighter is a joint project between the UK, Germany, Italy, and Spain. It began in 1994. The first Eurofighter Typhoons will enter service in 2003. Photographed in 2000 at BAE Systems Warton, Manchester, UK.
