Robot head. Android robot head capable of facial expression. The robot's skin is removed to show its inner workings. The robot has a digital camera in its left eye. When this camera views a human face, it will transmit the image to the robot's computer. The computer will then recognize the expression on the human face and calculate and execute the appropriate response expression. This expression is achieved by activated motors and pulleys beneath the robot's flexible skin. This was the first of several face robots constructed by the Hara and Kabayashi Laboratory at the Science University, Tokyo, Japan. See image T280/055 for an image of the robot with its skin.
