Electric plug opened to show the internal wiring. A thirteen amp fuse is seen at right. This protects the device from a damaging overload of electricity. An overload melts the wire in the fuse and cuts the electrical supply. The yellow and green wire goes to the 'earth' pin at the top of the plug. This carries the current safely to earth (the ground) if a fault develops. The blue and brown wires are 'neutral' and 'live' respectively.
