Pakistani weapons factory. Ikonos Satellite image of the Khan Research Laboratories near Kahuta, Pakistan. This is Pakistan's main nuclear weapons laboratory and ballistic missile research centre. It was established in 1976 but was not operational until 1986. It produces, among other things, highly enriched uranium for Pakistan's nuclear arms programme. At top centre and centre right are production areas. Between these two areas is a housing section, with another housing section at bottom centre. At lower centre is the central support area and at bottom left is the Ghauri/Nodong development area, which develops intermediate range ballistic missiles. Taken on 7 October 2002.
