View of the Sellafield (formerly Windscale) nuclear power station and reprocessing plant in Cumbria, England. The dome used to house the Windscale Advanced Gas-Cooled Reactor (AGR), a prototype nuclear reactor which operated between 1963 and 1981. The large stacks are part of a complex which included the two Windscale plutonium production reactors wherein uranium was irradiated to produce plutonium for military purposes. These were shut down after a fire in 1957.
