The Central Receiver Test Facility (CRTF), an experimental solar power station located near Albuquerque, New Mexico. The CRTF consists of a central receiver tower surrounded by an array of heliostats - large mirrors mounted on moveable frames that track the sun and concentrate its light onto the receiver mounted on top of the tower. Inside the receiver, a pressurized fluid is heated by the concentrated sunlight to become a vapour that is used to drive a turbine and generate electricity.
