Matter transporter. Conceptual computer artwork of human figures and an atom, representing a possible method of matter transportation. The atom is the coloured loops, an idealised representation of the orbit of the atom's electrons. A phenomenon known as quantum entanglement has been used to transfer the properties of one atom to another. This will be used to develop superfast quantum computers. Applying this to humans, if at all possible, lies a long way in the future. Matter transporters (or teleporters) are a science fiction concept that allows data to be transmitted and used to recreate a duplicate of an original object.
