International Space Station (ISS) orbiting above the Earth. Solar panels (blue) provide power for the ISS. A Soyuz escape capsule is docked to the ISS at lower left. The ISS modules (continuing to upper right) are Zvezda, Zarya (both white) and Unity (silver). Unity's airlock (Quest) is attached to its lower right. The Destiny module is not seen. The ISS is a joint effort between NASA, ESA, the Russian space agency, Canada, Japan and Brazil. It orbits at an altitude of 350 kilometres and will be over 100 metres in length. It has been manned since October 2000 and is scheduled for completion in 2004. Photographed on 20 August 2001 on mission STS-105 by the Space Shuttle Discovery.
