Demonstration of weightlessness. Dr Mamoru Mohri next to a floating apple in the Spacelab-J science module. Mohri, the first Japanese scientist in space, was photographed during a space-to-Earth video conference with students in his native country. As well as demonstrating the effects of weightlessness, Mohri gave a description of the Spacelab-J mission and general information on space travel and space physics. Spacelab-J was carried by Shuttle Endeavour during the STS-47 mission of 12-20 September 1992, and was a joint venture between NASA and the NASDA, the Japanese space agency.
