Scrotum. Thermogram of an anterior view of a healthy human scrotum. The temperature scale runs from red (warmest) to yellow, green, cyan and blue, to mauve (coldest). The scrotum is a pouch which houses the testicles, the site of sperm production (spermatogenesis) and maturation. The temperature of the scrotum is important as a high scrotal temperature will adversely effect spermatogenesis.
