Full bladder. Coloured X-ray urogram of the human abdomen, showing a full bladder. Bones of the pelvis (lower frame) and lumbar spine (upper centre) are seen. At upper left are branched collecting ducts of a kidney. A tube- like ureter passes urine from this kidney to the bladder (at bottom) between the pelvic hip bones. The bladder is full, expanded to a rounded structure. A urogram is made by injecting a substance opaque to X-rays into the blood. An X- ray is then taken after the kidneys have filtered this substance from the blood. (See photo P556/044 showing this bladder empty after urination).
