The sensations of sight, touch, smell, hearing and taste are processed in different regions of the cerebrum. This is the largest and most developed part of the brain. The sensation of sight is processed at the rear of the brain, touch towards the centre and the other three senses in a separate region. The outer layer of the cerebrum is the grey matter of the cerebral cortex that is responsible for intelligent thought, language, conscious movement, the higher sensations and memory.
