Left coronary artery. Coloured X-ray angiogram of one of the arteries (black) that feed the heart's muscle. Angiograms are made by injecting the patient with a substance that is opaque to X-rays and then taking an X-ray. Blood vessels show up clearly, allowing conditions such as coronary artery disease (where the coronary artery narrows) to be identified.
