The frontal bone (right) of the cranium forms the forehead or brow above the eye sockets. The facial skeleton (lower right) comprises the nasal, cheek and upper jaw bones. Several teeth in the rear of the jaw are at lower right. The head is supported by the neck (bottom), which also supplies blood to the head and nerves to the rest of the body. The first two cervical vertebrae are specialised: the atlas holds the head on top of the vertebral column, and the axis allows the head to pivot.
