MODEL RELEASED. Asthma sufferer learning to use an inhaler during a visit to his general practice doctor. Bronchial asthma is a condition in which the patient may suffer paroxysmal attacks of bronchospasm, severely restricting breathing. To give relief, a bronchodilator (such as salbutamol or terbutaline) is administered; as the patient inhales through the device, the drug is taken up and passes into the bronchi. Asthma attacks may be precipitated by a variety of factors, including allergens, infections, exertion and emotional states. Model: Mr Pomeroy.
