Uterine adhesion. Endoscope view of a patient's abdomen with adhesions between the uterus (centre) and the abdominal wall (top). Adhesions are growths of fibrous (scar) connective tissue formed as a response to tissue trauma. In this case the adhesions were caused by bleeding from an ectopic pregnancy, a pregnancy that implanted outside of the uterus. If the adhesions cause severe pain or cause dysfunction of the reproductive system they are removed surgically.
