Pregnancy check-up. General practice (GP) doctor palpates the abdomen of a pregnant woman to determine the position of her developing foetus. The foetus should be positioned head downwards into the mother's pelvis prior to birth. If the position is unusual, a Caesarean section (surgical delivery) may be considered. Regular check-ups are necessary throughout pregnancy to monitor the health of mother and child.
