MODEL RELEASED. Rolfing. Therapist uses his elbows to give a deep massage to a patient as part of Rolfing therapy. Rolfing was developed by Ida Rolf (1896-1979) as a form of deep massage also known as estructural integration. It is based on the theory that muscle tension, caused by stress or illness, can cause deformity in posture. Rolfing uses deep massage techniques to restore a person to normal straight posture. After Rolfing therapy the patient usually grows by one centimetre, has increased strength and feels better psychologically. Photographed at Lelystad, The Netherlands.
