Skin cream. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of zinc oxide cream on skin. The cream is seen as the white area at right. Normal skin is at left. The white appearance of the cream is due to the zinc oxide it contains. This protects the skin from the sun by reflecting the light. The rest of the cream consists of oils that keep the skin supple. Magnification: x750 when printed 10cm wide.
