Infertility treatment. Syringe between two vials (phials). The vials contain a female fertility drug (Gonal F75). Infertility in women is often caused by failure of the glands in the ovaries (follicles) to produces eggs. This condition is known as hypopituitarism. The Gonal F75 drug contains a follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). When this is administered by subcutaneous injection it will correct the hormonal imbalances which cause the follicles to fail. Often FSHs are used to produce eggs which are then used for in vitro fertilisation (IVF). This is where an egg is fertilised outside the body and then implanted back into the womb.
