MODEL RELEASED. Occupational therapist with a stroke patient. The patient, an 81-year old man, had a stroke three weeks prior to this photo. This left him with hemiparesis (unilateral paralysis) on his left side. The occupational therapy is designed to help him adjust to the condition, so enabling him to return to a near-normal life after leaving hospital. In this image the patient is using a spiked breadboard to enable him to butter and cut toast.
