Tuberculosis (TB) vaccination. Normal local skin reaction on day 40 after inoculation. Vaccination against tuberculosis is by intradermal injection of a live attenuated strain of bovine Myco- bacterium tuberculosis. This vaccine is also known as Bacille Calmette-Guerin, or BCG. The lesion seen here healed over 12 weeks. The lesion is usually only dressed if there is any discharge from it. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease characterised by the formation of nodular lesions in body tissues. Pulmonary tuberculosis affects the lungs and, apart from vaccination prevention, is curable with antibiotic drugs.
