A nebulizer converts liquid into a fine mist that can be inhaled, allowing the delivery of medicines deep into the lungs. This is useful in treating asthma, cystic fibrosis and other respiratory conditions. Drugs that might be inhaled include bronchodilators (to expand airways), corticosteroids (to reduce inflammation), and antibiotics.
