Aspirin. Group of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) pills spilled from a bottle. Aspirin is a common pain reliever. This analgesic drug has an anti- inflammatory action, and is useful in treating headache, menstrual pain and muscle discomfort. Used in small doses aspirin prevents thrombosis (abnormal blood clots) in patients at risk of having a stroke or heart attack.
