Augmentin (Amoxycillin) tablets. The antibiotic Augmentin, the brand name for a penicillin drug containing amoxycillin. Antibiotics are used to treat infections caused by bacteria. Augmentin may be prescribed for cystitis, severe bronchitis, gonorrhoea, and infections of the ear and skin. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. A number of strains of bacteria have become resistant to Amoxycillin.
