Smart bandage technology enables rapid regrowth and joining of damaged body tissues, like tendon or bone. Tiny grooves etched in the synthetic bandage direct the growth of tendon cells. Placed between broken ends of a tendon in a solution of cultured tendon cells, the bandage speeds healing and joining of the tendon. The bandage then bio- degrades. This technology may provide templates for future hip replacements and many other kinds of cell engineering projects. This research was conducted at the University of Glasgow, Scotland."
