With MAGI (microscope-assisted guided interventions), surgeons see a superimposed image of previously scanned structures beneath the skin while looking through a microscope during surgery. This helps the surgeon to find the target site while avoiding surrounding tissue. The skull phantom was designed to test this system. During surgery the virtual reality image must be precisely aligned with the patient's head. This is Dr. Andrew King, one member of the teams from London University, UK, that developed MAGI.
