Post-operative infection. View of a sinus on a patient's back. This is a channel-like lesion under the skin, caused by infection of an operation incision. Closure marks from post- surgical sutures may be seen, especially just right of centre. The sinus has grown along the length of the incision site, and has erupted through to the surface at three points. This sinus was seen on a patient's back after surgery on the spine.
