MODEL RELEASED. Hospital hygiene. Hospital nurse (right) with an Infection Control Specialist. The nurse is using a disinfectant handrub to clean his hands. The disinfectant will reduce the amount of bacteria on his hands, and is more convenient to use than a sink. This is part of the Clean Your Hands campaign by England's National Health Service, which was implemented in 2005. The campaign aims to minimise infection risk by educating NHS staff and patients about the need for improved hygiene. Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), such as that caused by the drug-resistant bacterium MRSA, are a drain on NHS resources and can kill patients. Photographed at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester, West Sussex, England.
