MODEL RELEASED. Ambulanceman inserting an endotracheal tube into the throat of an unconcious patient. Once in position, the small cuff visible at the end of the tube is inflated to fill the trachea. The tube is then connected to a manual pump and artificial respiration is given to resuscitate the patient. The cylindrical object is a laryngoscope; the handle bears a curved, blunt metal blade which is used to keep the tongue from obstructing the pharynx.
