Oesophagus treatment. Endoscope view of varices being constricted in the oesophagus (gullet). Varices are dilated veins that can protrude (bleb) above the surface of the oesophagus. These blebs are then prone to abrasion, which results in bleeding, as in this case. Treatment involves using rubber bands (black) to constrict the veins to stop the bleeding (haemostasis).
