Here, densitometry is being used to confirm the presence of osteoporosis. Victims of this bone wasting disease suffer from brittle, easily fractured bones. It is most common in women after the menopause. The only treatment is preventative and there is no cure. Bone densitometry can also be used to diagnose rickets in children.
