Pinard stethoscope. View of a Pinard, a foetal stethoscope used by midwives to listen to the foetal heartbeat. The bottom end is placed against the women's abdomen and the midwife listens at the upper end. A Pinard is used during routine antenatal checks and may be used during birth itself.
