Infant with club feet (Talipes) a congenital deformity in which one or both feet are twisted out of shape. Here, the most common type of club foot, talipes equinovarus, is seen. The heel is turned inwards and the rest of the foot is bent downwards and inwards. The child cannot stand with the sole of the foot flat on the ground, but walks on the outer edge. Talipes equinovarus is twice as common in boys as in girls. Treatment by repeated manipulation of the foot and ankle should take place soon after birth. In some cases, correction is by splinting or strapping; or tendon and ligament surgery.
