This is a distortion in the shape of the head, caused by an irregularity in the closure of sutures (immoveable joints) between the bones of the skull. Plagiocephaly is congenital, and although the minor form seen here is common in infancy, this tends to improve with age. More extreme forms are rare, and can not normally be treated.
