Malaria control. Man using a fogging machine to spray insecticide near houses in a village to eliminate malarial mosquitoes. The malaria parasite Plasmodium sp. spends part of its life- cycle in humans, and part in Anopheles sp. mosquitoes. The eradication of mosquitoes is one method used to control malaria, as by killing the mosquitoes, the malarial parasite cannot be transported from one infected human to another. Malarial mosquitoes have now developed resistance to some insecticides. Malaria causes severe fever and can be fatal in some cases through damage to the liver, kidney, brain or bloodstream. Photographed in Thailand.
