These fat deposits are known as xanthomas and they are often associated with hyperlipidaemia (raised fat levels in the blood) or high cholesterol. Treatment aims to lower the lipid (fat) levels in the blood through the means of a diet low in cholesterol & high in polyunsaturated fat, and by treatment with cholesterol lowering drugs.
