Meningitis and MRSA. Baby infected by a bacterium causing meningitis (inflammation of the membranes of the brain) and a drug-resistant strain (MRSA) of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. Both of these conditions are treatable with antibiotics, but can cause death if left untreated. Many MRSA infections are acquired in hospitals. A feeding tube has been inserted through the baby's nose. Photographed in Thailand.
