Secondary lung cancer. Coloured X-ray of metastases (secondary cancers, orange and red) in the lungs. Metastases are cancers that have spread from a primary site elsewhere in the body, in this case from a sarcoma (cancer of supportive tissues such as bone, cartilage or muscle). Once a cancer has spread and invaded large areas of the body, it is invariably fatal. Radiotherapy and anti-cancer drugs can slow the cancer's progress and extend the patient's life. The heart (pink) is also seen.
